Gorgeous Douvilleiceras Ammonite with beautifully clear markings.  It has a ribbed shell which has been polished and finished by hand along the suture lines.

This fossil is sourced from the jungles of Mahajanga in Madagascar and is 120 million years old dating back to the Cretaceous Period. The original shell of the Ammonite was replaced over a very long period of fossilisation, wherein water dissolved the original hard parts of the ammonite shell and replaced it with mineral matter: most commonly, Calcite minerals. 

Douvilleiceras is a species of Ammonite (an extinct marine mollusc) that can often be distinguished from other ammonites by its ribbed, highly textured shell.
